 Affirmations are meant to be repeated throughout the day, in order to establish them in your subconscious mind. They are a method of controlling your thought patterns, and can help to create a more optimistic outlook. The idea behind affirmations is to effect changes in real life, the first step of which is to alter your thought process. For the best success, follow these steps when creating affirmations:

  1. Start your affirmations with "I am..."

  2. Use present tense

  3. Use positive language

  4. Keep it as brief as possible

  5. Make it specific 

  6. Make sure the affirmations regard your own actions
